Rabbi Shlomo Stochel

Rabbi Shlomo Stochel is an accomplished and thoughtful educational leader with over 30 years’ experience as a mechanech and administrator. Before coming to TABC, he served as Chair of the Talmud Department, Director of Israel Guidance, Associate Dean, and most recently, as Head of the Upper School at Ramaz. Rabbi Stochel is a graduate of Yale University and holds an MS in Jewish History from the Bernard Revel Graduate School, as well as Semicha from RIETS. He spent two years studying in Israel, first at Yeshivat Har Etzion/Machon Herzog and later at Yeshiva University’s Gruss Kollel. In 2004-05 he spent a sabbatical year from Ramaz with his family in Israel as a Jerusalem Fellow at the Mandel Leadership Institute. In 2009-10 Rabbi Stochel earned a certificate in Jewish school leadership at the Institute for Day School Management, a joint program of the Columbia Graduate School of Business and the UJA Federation of NY. Rabbi Stochel is highly regarded as an extraordinary educator who is not only receptive to the needs and aspirations of students, faculty, and parents, but for creating a warm school culture that is predicated on excellence in Torah learning, academic achievement, and middot. Throughout his career, Rabbi Stochel’s strong educational background, wise and balanced leadership style, and personal integrity have enabled him to successfully mentor administrators and faculty members across all disciplines. Rabbi Stochel resides in Teaneck with his family and is a member of Congregation Rinat Yisrael.
