Rabbi Ben Skydell received the Alumni Tribute Award at our 34th Annual Dinner. Watch the video presentation that shows why we were honored to present him with this award.

Rabbi Ben skydell is one of the greatest success stories of TABC when he came to TA see you in the ninth grade he was actually in the Sinai program took a class at 2 with the ABC however the 10th grade we gave him an opportunity to fully integrate and participate in the world ABC programs and he blossomed that is the kind of student who walks into a teacher's classroom once in a lifetime that's how I feel she heat so smart and so perceptive and so eager to join the conversation always skydell on your special honor today even though I was only a part-time teacher when you were here are we still had a good interactions between us and I always love seeing you at this sympathetic show Avon ballpark when you bring your North Shore Hebrew Academy High School students to play the the rebel and all of the singing in the dancing we a TABC enjoy that as well Mazel Tubman I had been skydell when he was back back in in high school he was a very very funny young man very very clever very very well and this is a story that that proves that I dreams do come true and because of his hard work and his parents foresight and the when this work that we did hear collectively at our Academy that then skydell eventually became Rabbi Ben skytel the theater and it was very small school that time was smaller so I drove some of the students and very was sitting next to me at just talking talking I give it was as if we were at always felt that I was just giving me as a play play right I can't imagine what he's like now I'm so glad that we maybe dinner so I can see him again every time I moved and overwhelmed excitement and the vibrancy that he brings when he teaches Torah when he works the students and it works in the community when we were colleagues together I he invited me to teach in his shul I'm seeing is really his relationship with his congregants in his relationship with his students everything he does just with excitement and it's contagious makes you want to go out and be a better person and do whatever can with more energy and more excitement what's been skydell Rabbi skytel we have a very very special Pride because of his ability to connect he has such a rich person stuff fun personality wide-ranging personality and seen firsthand he's able to connect with everybody the question there wasn't how can I make you what I want you to be the rather how can you become the best you possible and I know I was a challenge I'll tell you in a mazing Story one time I was at a TABC dinner with my mother there they're honoring rap Adler and rather said that he was not most proud of the students who would wind up in the top universities for the top of shiva's Roundup and TABC and he was able to bring them is a place he was always most proud of the students who didn't really have a place and he was able to make a place for them and help them make a life for themselves what is he finish that sentence rub Grossman turned to me and said then stands up and take a bow  when Ben and I were first married we took a trip to Israel who's we are walking the streets of Jerusalem and all the sudden became so excited because he's like oh my gosh there is one of my room from TABC in Ben's educational history he wasn't very excited about his teacher so when he spoke about his high school teachers it was a different type of feel so when he brought me over to is Robbie his rabie stood on the street was so excited gave him a big bear hug and we just stood on the street for a half hour catching up and he was so interested in Penns Grove with in progress and I was inspired and they're really made me think about it acacian then and teaching in the teachers that Ben had made an impression on him turn it was place where I felt supported was a place where I felt that I mattered that I when I came to school someone actually care that I was there it was a place where for the first time early in my education career I felt like these are people that are invested not only in me getting through but invested in my success and not only in My Success while I'm here what am I successful the rest of my life by Skydive since he's being head there's no coincidence the week managed to attract volume people to to the community during the first week of his 10-year Heroes Rabbi Hurricane Sandy struck and Shawnee and ribeye Play-Doh without missing a beat organized a collection here in our lobby from all the big synagogues here in the community to bring items to Long Beach which was devastated by Hurricane Sandy what I would always say is I think Rabbi Ben does not have an ego which in itself is extremely refreshing we are eternal grateful to TABC enter Adler for what the school and Rabbi as or have done for our children as I said the time he took our son and he gave them back their future
