Rabbi Yisrael Apfel
Rabbi Yisrael Apfel grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey, and attended Shaalvim and Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim before studying for four years at Yeshiva University under Rav Yaakov Neuberger. Rabbi Apfel received semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) as well as a certificate in pastoral counseling from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Following semicha, Rabbi Apfel spent three years learning in the Beren Kollel Elyon under Rav Michael Rosensweig and Rav Mordechai Willig. He is also the author of Rav Tzvi Pesach Frank on the Parsha, a collection of Torah insights based on the teachings of Rav Tzvi Pesach Frank zt"l. Each summer, Rabbi Apfel directs the learning program at Camp Slapshots, where he delivers the morning shiur and oversees the night seder for the sports staff. Rabbi Apfel lives in Passaic, New Jersey, with his wife, Shayna, and their five children.
