Pre-Calculus and Advanced Placement Calculus Part I

Review of Algebra, functions and graphs, polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, then limits and derivatives.

Advanced Placement Calculus AB or BC

Applications for derivatives, integration and transcendental functions. Students take the Advanced Placement examination in May.

AP Statistics

Organizing data using graphs, describing data numerically, normal distributions, relationships between two variables, designing samples and experiments, simulating data using a Texas Instruments graphing calculator, probability and statistical inference. Students have the option of taking the Advanced Placement examination in May.

Math 12

Math 12 has been designed to prepare students for math that they will need as a prerequisite for college as well as to teach students math skills needed for life.  The first semester will focus on topics which will improve the standardized test scores of these students and provide them with a good foundation for college Algebra.  Topics will include probability, sequences and series, transforming functions and direct and indirect variation.  The second semester will be a combination of everyday economics and statistical data analysis.  Students will learn about checking accounts, mortgages and interest rates.  The course will wrap up with understanding sampling methods and their biases, designing experiments and reading and interpreting scatter-plots and their least square regression lines.  Students should be able to read about an actual experiment and interpret the results by the end of this unit.
